You Don't Realise a Good Thing Until It's Gone
by Henri
We've had a rough start, you and I. We met when we were young- too young, really to know what we actually had with each other. We were rough with each other- cheated, and just generally ignored our love for each other, shrugging it off for more convenient pleasures. Of course, it was one of those things- don't realize a good thing until it's gone, I suppose. You dated other people, I had that long term relationship with Eric. Three years, we pretended we were nothing more than friends towards each other. Three years we went through our own places of doubt, wondering if we made the right choice. Thankfully, Eric wasn't willing to wait for me while I got on the fast track for the future. He didn't want to be alone for the few months it would take. He didn't want to marry me, even after three years of commitment. Our relationship sort of dissolved after that. You know all about it, of course, since you were more than willing to pick up the pieces, and even more willing to take my broken heart and stitch it back together again with patience and love. Tomorrow will be the year mark of when he dumped me, but I'm not going to look on all I've lost- the apartment, the kittens, a sewing machine- instead, I'm going to focus on what I've gained. You- and that is the most important thing to me. Your darling love, Henri
