Witness Protection Program?

I have viewed at least 20,000 male profiles in the six years that I've been online dating. 60% of the men look like they're in the Witness Protection Program.

Hats and sunglasses!!

What are they thinking? Please stop hiding behind a disguise. Women WANT to see your face, and your eyes, and your hair (or lack there of). There are plenty of nice women who like balding/bald men.

10% more can't get close to the camera for fear of breaking it (I'm guessing here). Your face should fill at least half of the of the total picture area.

Another 10% try to look "sexy" or like a "bad boy," without a smile, and usually look scary or angry or homicidal.

Stop it!

Women think a smile, a real smile, is VERY sexy, or at least cute (and to some of us, cute IS sexy!). Think of looking into the eyes of that special woman you're looking for and then smile and take the picture.

What Women Want:

1) Friendly smiling face, without sunglasses and hat.

2) Face shot

3) Full body shot, close enough to fill most of the picture...not showing the wonderful landscape behind you!

4) If adventurous, several different face shots from different events or settings; inside daytime, outside daytime (no sunglasses/hats!), inside nighttime (not too close with the flash), outside nighttime (most digital cameras have a setting for night without flash, for backlit shots, to reduce red-eye...learn or ask someone who knows how to use a camera).

What Women Don't Want:

1) Disguises (sunglasses, hats, caps, excess facial hair unless you ALWAYS wear it, High School grad pics, childhood or baby shots)

2) Group shots from far away, without any clue as to which one you are.

3) Webcam shots that are TOO close, grainy, dark, and sinister-looking

4) The same bad picture posted several times!! WTF?

If all else fails, get your picture taken professionally. It isn't THAT expensive. Go to Sears or JC Penney or Olin Mills or whatever, and have a good picture taken. Ask if they do digital images and how you would get them. Pictures get MORE responses, always!
