Unique Romantic Gifts for Her

Silver Earrings

Need a Valentine gift idea? Sterling silver earrings are always welcome.

They're classy, and go with everything.

If you're a romantic, but still want to play it safe, these are a good bet.

"The most romantic gift I have ever received was when I got engaged to my husband. It was on my 21st birthday and we went to the Indianapolis 500 car race and then we were going to go back to my house and clean up (races can be grungy!)and then go out to a birthday dinner. Or so I thought. When we arrived at my house I saw a bunch of cars but figured my parents had company for the weekend, but it was a surprise birthday party. My finance brought in a huge box about 3 feet tall with a bow and told me to open it. I did and then another box and another until a small ring size box was left, when I opened it there was a beautiful emerald and diamond engagement ring. I was so surprised when he got down on his knee and asked to marry me. How romantic!! My name is Marji S. I live in Lake Mary, Fl U.S.A."

Heart Pendant

This pretty pendant says "I love you" in a classic, classy way.

If your Valentine is a lady, she'll love her sterling silver and garnet necklace.

"Let's face it some men just know how to win a woman’s heart. Just when you think there is nothing more to do my boyfriend Tony goes out to look for something else. I met him at the art gallery. He talked intelligently but I am intelligent too so there is no way any many was going to just dump that on me and think I would fall for him. After weeks of chasing me around and calling I finally gave in though he was younger than I was, he loved better than any older man I had ever been with. On a particular Friday evening he shows up at my house and tells me we are going to the movies. It was a pretty good movie. We sat in the car for quite a while we kissed and talked. Then he reached into his pocket and brought out a silver personalised initial swing necklace. I always wanted to have one and here it was, glittering before me with my initial standing out in the middle. He had my name written round and underneath was inscribed Live, Laugh, and Love. I asked him what the occasion was. I was afraid I had missed an important anniversary or birthday. He smiled and said ‘everyday with you is an anniversary. You are the reason my heart celebrates daily’. Each time I look at that piece of jewellery, I always remember that statement and smile to myself. It was the best gift a man had ever given me."

Flower Pendant

This floral offering is another classic sterling silver piece.

"The most romantic gift I've ever received was a dainty bracelet with hearts for Valentine’s Day. It’s my favorite gift because my husband proposed in February and Valentine’s Day always reminds me of the way I felt when he asked me to marry him. I remember the way he kept moving something the night while we watched a movie. Later I realized that he was fidgeting with the little engagement ring box. I guess he was checking to make sure it was there and was nervous. The bracelet was something I saw and wanted at a store. Because he got it for me on Valentine’s Day I get swept up and remember all of our other Februaries together. I remember the mushy cards that he was embarrassed and proud that my friends would see. All the memories of expectations and romance surround the month of February and make me remember my loving husband."

Silver Jewelry Tree

Still stuck for Valentines gift ideas? This jewelry tree is classic and unique.

She'll love hanging her favourite jewels to display on this pretty piece.

"I'm not really much of a gift giving or receiving person so I'll have to go back a while, my most romantic gift was the first and one of the very few gifts given to me by my girlfriend, now my wife. We were still in college then, the only time we saw each other was during the summer and Christmas breaks. I was visiting her a few days after Christmas when she presented me with a box of home baked cookies, she knew I was coming and she'd spent the previous night with her sister baking cookies just for me! And they were delicious, the girls really knew what they were doing. It was one of the few times in my life I was at a loss for words, all I could think of was "wow! Thank you so much!" The timing (just after Christmas), the fact that we'd been apart for months and the thought and effort she put into the gift all came together to make it a really special and romantic occasion."

Angel Feather Pendant

This piece of jewellery is really beautiful and unique.

You can send her a romantic message (that she's an angel fallen from Heaven) and also give her an unusual piece of jewellery.

"My husband always says he is not a romantic guy. I knew this about him before we got married. So, imagine my surprise one Christmas, when he presented me with a very romantic gift. When we got married I didn't own a lot of fine jewelry. My only pieces were a watch and a necklace that belonged to my mother. I worked as an accessories buyer for a department store, so most of the time I wore costume jewelry given to me by different sales representatives. When we got married, my husband and I purchased wedding rings and he got me a small diamond engagement ring, as well. I loved the ring for what it represented. My husband always joked around about getting me something larger one day. I thought that was a lovely idea, but really didn't give it much thought. On our third Christmas together, I was expecting to get what I had asked for, a "Coach" handbag. Well, I got the handbag and so much more! On Christmas morning me husband surprised me with a beautiful diamond ring! It consisted of a pear shaped center stone surrounded by two smaller diamonds and two smaller emeralds. My husband said he chose the ring with emeralds because it was my birthstone. My husband also surprised me with a beautiful jewelry box with a brass plate on top engraved with our wedding date. He said it was to keep all my jewelry and memories safe. This was a pretty romantic gesture from a not-so romantic guy! Needless to say, I'm still wearing my ring 16 years later, and I still have my husband, who has turned out to be a bit of a romantic after all."

Scatter Rose Petals

Set the scene for your romantic evening by laying a trail of crimson rose petals...

"I had left a few hints to my boyfriend about what I wanted for our 1-year anniversary, and that was "flowers, flowers, flowers"! I'd never gotten flowers in my entire life from somebody other than family, and I just adore flowers of every kind. The day of our anniversary rolled around and what do I open the door to find but a beautiful bouquet!! He wrote the nicest card with it too, which I still have pinned to my wall. Whenever I think about that day, I think about what a wonderful man I'm with, and how he made that day absolutely perfect!"

Valentines Gift Ideas: Pink Rose Tea Set

If your flame is a tea-drinker, she'll love this pretty, girlie tea set. And whenever she's drinking her favourite brew, she'll think of you...

"I walked into a pawn shop one day about ten years ago. I really do not know what compelled me to even go in there. The place looked like it was two days past due for a demolition but yet I wandered in. The man working the counter immediately looked up at me and I was a tad taken back by his long, stringy, black hair and the three tooth gapped grin that he gave me. Approaching the counter, I noticed some beautiful rings but one in particular caught my eye. It was pewter with a good sized mother of pearl set in it and it looked very old. I didn’t want to appear too excited when I asked the price. He quoted me a small amount and I went home happy. A few days later, the man I love was checking the ring out and casually asked me if he could have it. I would give this man the last penny in my loafer if he wanted it so I took the ring off and gave it to him with no questions asked. About a month later, on Valentine’s Day my love became excited as he handed me a small box. I cried when I opened it and saw my ring, but it was a much better ring. He had his grandfather’s diamond drilled into the middle of the pearl and on one side of the ring it says “ML” and the other says “FY”. It means “My Life For You”. It is now ten years later and that meaning between us is stronger than ever." Heather Thomson Breesport, New York

Spa Gift Basket

There's nothing women like more than taking a luxurious bath with lovely smelly bath products. Indulge her with a spa day in her own bathroom.

"If you're gonna ask me what is the most romantic gift that I've ever received. Well, the answer is merely simple. I'm just a typical ordinary boy living the time of my life. I've never imagined that I would be this happy. Gifts are not just simply issued by stuffs or materialistic things. For me, it could be anything. It only differs with the way we perceive things around us. Everyone of us has different perspective. So much for that long introduction. The greatest gift in the world for me is my girlfriend. God has given her to me in a very unexpected way. Before, I don't believe in destiny. But, when she came into my life I've realized that if things are meant to be there will be many ways just for them to meet. Serendipity, as many people say is very hard to find. As well as true love. Nevertheless what could be so hard in loving someone with all your heart. She's the greatest gift that I've ever received and I'll surely treasure her forever."

Valentines Gift Ideas: Romantic Massage Gift Basket

The Valentines Gift you can share...

"Color co-ordinate my love... I met a wonderful man and things were going exceptionally well. We decided to take a road trip and I bought some jelly beans for us to snack on. He was very amused that I ate two at a time and that they were always color co-ordinated. A few weeks later on my birthday I had received a number of thoughtful gifts. I was very happy and excited to share my birthday with him. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better he said " and last but not least, my final gift to you." He handed over a huge carefully wrapped box. I opened it and to my astonishment found a large plastic container filled with many little containers, and all were filled with a huge amount of jelly beans all carefully sorted according to color. This brought tears to my eyes and as I reached out to thank him he turned to me and said " I love you my darling, and I want to sort your jelly beans for the rest of my life." That was the moment I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him and that he was my perfect color co-ordinated match in life."

Floral File Folders

Even the most organised women have girlish hearts - if your love is the practical type, give her the gift of pretty filing. Because even organisation can be beautiful...

"The most romantic gift I've ever received... That would probably be the handmade scarf and teddy bear my ex gave to me during our anniversary. It was a red teddy bear, its fur was red and soft, it had two black glass bead eyes, and a red nose shaped like a heart. It had white paws and feet and white fur on the ears. The scarf was white and made from cotton, it was long enough to wrap around my neck, and kept me warm during those cold winter days. Each time I wrapped the scarf around my neck, I would imagine her arms holding me from behind, with her cheek snuggling up against mine. Just this could keep me warm. The teddy bear also had the same impact on me. It was odd, but the bear soon became an object for my affection for her. I would hug and cuddle it when I missed her, It also helped me sleep when I was not feeling well. After we broke up, I had to put them away, as the sight of them caused all those memories we shared together to flood back, causing me to cry, and making it harder to let go of her. To me these are the most Romantic gifts, because they meant the most to me throughout our relationship. Though the relationship didn’t last the memories of the time we spent together will remind with the scarf and bear."

Valentines Gift Ideas: Tiffany Style Lamp

Give her something out of the ordinary. The gorgeous leaded glass in this Tiffany-inspired lamp will bring you to mind whenever she turns it on.

"The most romantic gift I ever received was a unique card case from my husband on our 25th wedding anniversary. A card case may not sound terribly romantic but his thoughtfulness made it so. After I quit smoking many years ago, my beautiful old Cartier cigarette case languished at the back of a dresser drawer. My husband had the brilliant idea to re-purpose it as a card case. He took it to a jeweler and got it engraved with my initials. He even commissioned a special silk carrying pouch in my favorite colors of burgundy and black. Then, he got special personal cards printed in an elegant style with just a name on the front and contact information discreetly placed on the back. When he presented the whole package to me after dinner on our anniversary, I hardly recognized my old case because I hadn’t looked at it in so many years. Soon though, the memories came flooding back. I love having this beautiful accessory with its new contents back in my life. It’s a nice and practical alternative to handing out a business card for social occasions. I fondly remember our anniversary every time I use it so it’s the most romantic gift I ever got."

Valentines Gift Ideas: Naughty Weekend Gift Basket

Need we say more?

"The most romantic gift I've ever received was from my current boyfriend. He is by far the sweetest man I've ever met. Heres where the story starts. I came out to my car one day to find that a drunk driver had side swiped it while it was parked along the side of the road outside my home. The mirror on the driver's side was completely torn off and shattered all over the road. I had to get to work right away so I picked up the pieces, put them into my car and drove off in tears. When I had time, I called my insurance company and since there was no proof of another car being involved in the situation, they told me I would have to pay the deductible and could then have it fixed. I was living paycheck to paycheck so I told the woman that would mean not eating for three months...so I would just be driving without a side mirror...which I did for about three days. On the fourth day my boyfriend insisted that I come over (despite my protests over driving over there without a mirror), and he presented me with a new mirror which he installed right there. He even did his best to buff out the scratches that were all along the side of my car as a result of this incident. He has time and time again proven that he loves me through gestures like this, and I couldn't imagine being with anyone sweeter than him!"

Message in a Bottle

For the true romantic. Send her a love note in a bottle.

"It's funny to say that this is the most romantic gift I've ever received, but it is. My husband is in the military, and he goes away for long periods of time. When we first started dating, we were at the grocery store. I picked up a dark chocolate Hershey bar and put it in the basket. He looked at me and said "You don't like chocolate!" and I replied that "The only chocolate I like is dark chocolate Hersey Bars". Well, right before he left for Korea, he bought me 50 large bars. Its simple, but he wanted to give me what I wanted. It just showed that he remembered what I enjoyed, and wanted me to have it when he was gone. I didn't want jewelry, I didn't want flowers, I just wanted some chocolate! Let me tell you, those bars came in handy too during the months in which he was gone. Every time I would open, and eat one, I'd think of him. I'd think of my wonderful husband, and the fact that all he wanted in life was to make me happy."

Romantic Travel Basket

For the travelling romantic. Give her a basket of travel goodies, and maybe a ticket to somewhere exotic.

"The most romantic gift I ever received was when my husband, then boyfriend, gave me a little tiny stuffed dog. I do mean tiny! This little thing was about an inch long and about two inches tall. We were dating, and money was very tight, as we were both just 19, and he worked minimum wage and I was still in college and not working at all. It was Valentine's day, and he got me this little doggie and a card! And I loved him! I named him Rover. I know, real unique! But he became my little mascot, everywhere I went, he went. He was with us when we got married, in my purse. He went on our honeymoon, again in the purse. Every trip we took he went with us. Riding on the dashboard of the car, sitting on the nightstand of the motel. We were married 12 years before I got pregnant with our daughter. But Rover went to the hospital when she was born. And her tiny little fingers gripped him in the room that night after everyone left, and we were alone with her there. He became one of her favorite little toys, and he sat by her bed for many years. My daughter graduated in May, and she was cleaning out some of her things before she started to college. She came to my room, and put tiny little Rover in my hand, and said, "Mom, I guess that I can give Rover back to you. I think I am grown up enough that I am OK without him." So I took little Rover, and put him by my bed again. I have bad hands now, arthritis that won't let my fingers bend too well, and he is just the right size to squeeze and hold on to. A little tiny doggie, went through two generations and back again. I know it wasn't much and I have had much more expensive anniversary gifts over 30 years of marriage. But I will always love the tiny doggie, that the gangly 19 year old boy gave his girlfriend on a Valentine's day years ago!"

Pretty in Pink Spa Basket

Spa. Pink. Girly. She'll love it.

"The most romantic gift I ever received was a journal. I understand that to some people this may not seem romantic at all but to me it has been the most romantic gift ever. My husband is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. When he presented me with a journal after graduation a year before we were married I realized how much thought he had put into it. I had told him that I had kept a journal since I was about 13 years old. I also mentioned to him that I wasn't journaling as much anymore and that I missed it especially since we were creating so many new exciting memories I knew I'd remember forever. So, when he presented me with the journal I was so amazed and so happy. He told me to fill it with our memories because one day we will be looking back on them. Then he proposed.I have been filling the pages up ever since. The journal my husband gave me has meant more to me than the diamond rings, all the roses, stuffed animals, clothes, nice dinners, computers and cars I have ever received and if I lost everything else that would still be the most romantic gift that I would take with me. When I think about that journal my heart goes back to that day I graduated from college and knew we were going to start our lives together and make so many memories."

Art Nouveau Mirror

This beautiful mirror captures the romance and artistry of the Art Nouveau period.

"The most romantic gift I have ever received is a dozen roses. That may seem like a simple ordinary gift that all women receive sometime in thier life but my reason for it bieng so romantic is what makes it diffrent than most. I was dating a man I met through a friend for about three months and it was our first valentines together. He had to work that day but asked if he could take me out that night and I agreed. In the middle of the day he showed up, he had took a break from work, and was carrying a dozen roses with a teddy bear. I of course was happy but when I read the card it got better. The card read the roses are for you and the teddy bear is for your daughter because I love you both. I had a one year old daughter and I knew that I could never be with someone who didn't accept her completely. I also knew from that moment he was the man I was going to marry some day. Twelve years later we are still strong and he adopted my daughter as soon as we were married. After he left that first valentines another dozen rosed showed up by delivery and I have been receiving them every year since."

Art Nouveau Trinket Box

Give her a pretty box to store the lovely jewels you've bought her...

"The most romantic gift I have ever received was not your typical gift. I consider ' typical gifts ', to be jewelry. Not that I am opposed to receiving jewelry, in fact I love jewelry and would never turn down a diamond or a pearl. That probably goes with out saying, uh? In any event, I received a pile of little thoughtful gifts one late night when I got off of work which, I believe, made me fall in love all over again with my boyfriend. You see. He is a Mason by trade, well actually, that's one of his trades. The day before I received this heartfelt gift, he had literally burned open his fingers with lye pouring a cement job. He could hardly touch anything, me included and we put ointment on them, etc. Needless to say, he was in a great deal of pain. To my surprise, he went to work the following day, painful hands and all. I tried to talk him out of it, but, he is a pretty committed person. One of the things I love about him most. Anyway, He left me a message while I was at work which said, he loves me and has something on the table for me when I get home. He also said he was very tired and would sleep a little on the couch by the phone in case I want to call him. I couldn't call as I was busy, however, when I returned home that night, I looked on the clear coffee table and I saw an apple struddel ( cake ), a card and a bunch of hand picked plumeria flowers spread out on top of everything. The cake is one of my favorite cakes, the card said he appreciated me and although, he may not always show it, he loves me very much and he picked the fragrant flowers off of the tree where we live with burned open, nearly mutilated hands! This must be love!!!!!"

Valentines Gift Ideas: Art Nouveau Clock

Think how time slows down when you're apart. Now she'll think of you as she counts the minutes until you meet again.

"Though I have not been blessed with romantic boyfriends in my life, I have been blessed with the most amazing opposite gender best friend one could ever ask for. Though we are not in a romantic relationship, I feel that many would feel that several of the gifts he has given me could be classified as 'romantic' simply for their sheer thoughtfulness. Judging on pure romantic quality alone, I'll have to go with the two times we watched the sunrise on the beach in Texas. We are both photographers, and once when I was visiting him in Houston, he came up with the idea to get up at 4 A.M., drive to Galveston, and photograph the sunrise. It was one of the most gorgeous things I've ever seen. I took well over 300 beautiful photos. Afterward, we stopped at an IHOP that overlooked the Gulf, and had a delightful breakfast with a fantastic view. The next day, before going out on another photography outing, I erased the pictures off of my memory card, thinking I'd already backed them up – I was wrong. I was devastated to lose so many pictures from such a wonderful experience. My best friend new how upset I was, and 6 months later, when I came back to visit, he surprised me by once again taking me to see the sunrise, just so I could make up for the pictures I'd lost the first time. I don't know if you can call it romance, since we are only best friends, but it sure beats anything else anyone has done for me."

Art Nouveau Statue

This beautiful lady will grace any room. Represents the sensuous, flowing style of the Art Nouveau period.

"The most romantic gift I ever received was for Christmas 2006. I was spending the holiday with my then boyfriend, (now husband) and we were both still teenagers at the time. Being that we were so young, it was difficult to have an extravagant Christmas, because we were both still in High School and only had part-time minimum wage jobs. I had been able to do get my boyfriend a little something because of money that I had saved for the holidays, but he was feeling pretty awful because he wasn’t able to get me anything. Now to understand why I believe this was the most romantic gift, you have to understand how much my boyfriend loved video games at the time (and still does!). He always has to have the latest games, and prides himself on his video game collection. For Christmas that year, he decides that he is going to take every single last game he has in his collection and turn them in for store credit at a game store in order to buy me something for Christmas. My parents had bought me a Nintendo DS that year, so my boyfriend decided to get me a protective case, skins, and a new game to go with it. Although it may not sound romantic, the thought brought me to tears that year, and I still remember it as the most romantic gift ever."

Valentines Gift Ideas: Art Deco Maiden Statue

Representing the free spirit of the Roaring 20s, this lovely piece will capture her heart.

"When I was little my parents were friends with a couple who had a son a couple years older than me. During time he and I became very close but never dated we considered each other as best friends and during time he started to like me more than just a friend. So I decided to give the friendship an opportunity. I flew to California to visit and we had agreed that he would pay for my expenses since he insisted to pay for something. Since we had been friends for so many years I thought my gift was going to be something unique and special for my departure instead he gave a Mexico sports team sweater of his that looked like it was bought in the 90’s and worn and slept on, he knew I did not and do not like Mexico as a sports team and frankly is not one of my favorite countries. Every time I think of that horrible gift that he tried to pressure on me to keep and I did not keep. I think of all the bad things that happened in my trip and that the story of best friends make the best relationship is not always true." E.C McKinney, TX USA

Art Deco Room Divider

If you're going to go big, then go bold and beautiful. This piece will add distinction to any room.

"What comes to mind when one asks what a romantic gift could or should be. Of course, this is a personal preference, but some things are just obviously NOT of a romantic nature. I was a recipient of such a gift. After knowing someone for 3 years, you would think, they know you as well. You be the judge .... would you consider a crocheted sleeveless vest romantic? Wait, the best part is, it had a bear and giraffe knitted into the front of it. Not too sure those 2 creatures even go together. I wasn’t sure if I should be smiling, because I was almost certain there was another item to follow .... there wasn’t. I was gracious and accepted it with a huge hug. I felt a little let down and disappointed. Not that I am one needing expensive items, but love when some thought goes into it. The hardest part was getting out of not wearing it that evening. Good thing I had my outfit pre picked out (insert wink here). Did I mention it was Valentine’s Day??"

Art Deco Lucite Table Lamp

This lovely, ethereal lamp will add a touch of class, and romance to your life.

"It was the 1975 Christmas season and I was seven months pregnant with our first baby. A few days before Christmas, a big square box, beautifully wrapped and tagged for me, appeared under the tree. My husband could hardly contain his excitement. He couldn't wait for me to open it and excitedly told me how much the baby and I were going to love it. I didn't even have a guess as to what was inside. Finally, on Christmas morning, my husband handed me the big box and wore a big grin as he watched me unwrap it. It was a bright orange canister-style vacuum cleaner! He explained that the canister was very light weight compared to my upright model, and I'd be able to easily vacuum with one hand while holding the baby with the other! I've never let him live it down, and his gifts from that point on have been wonderful."

Luxury Food Gift Basket

When in doubt, go for food. Or it could be that you know she's a gourmet, and this is a perfectly logical choice. Either way, she's sure to share...

"I received a van for my birthday. A 1969 brown conversion van that didn't run. I am a girl! My husband got it for me and thought it was the coolest thing and didn't understand why I didn't jump for joy. I was never so upset and mad in my life. I felt like he had just forgotten my birthday and just so happened to get the van at that time and felt like oh crap I forgot, I will just tell her the van is for her! Many years later, that van is still sitting in our yard it now runs and we have tried to sell it many times. Everytime my birthday comes around I ask for "no vehicles". Up until this last summer I had never even opened the doors of that van. This last summer we have had to have the opportunity to camp in the woods many times and what did we use? The van. My husband made a bed in it for us and we were able to haul all of the families needs for a week in it. It ran great and it was a great time and I had to admit that the most awful present ever give to me turned out to be one of the best and I will always have great memories of this last summer."

Nest Candle

We girls are helpless in the face of lovely, smelly expensive candles. We melt into the arms of whomever brings them into our lives...

"Okay IT was Valentine's Day and I decided to stay with my girlfriend you know I get her something, and it was Roses and Chocolote you know a normal gift. Then of course she liked so she gave me a little kiss. I didn't ask for a gift because you don't really ask for gifts so anyway She handed me a normal piece of paper with a poem on it of course I didn't like it because I don't about you guys but Guys don't really like poem stuff. So I didn't show that I didn't like it I pretended to like it but to me it's really Tacky. The thing that was awful about it was that it was a poem she drew like hearts and flowers on it but I don't know I just didn't like it. I didn't even get the poem either Im just not a big Poem person. The memories that come flooding back is that I felt awful for not liking but I just did not like it."

Soy Candle

Okay, a soy candle in itself doesn't sound exciting. But these are gorgeously scented, luvvly soy candles. Don't worry, she'll love it...

"The worst romantic gift I've received would be a packet of M&M chocolates brought from the stores by my boyfriend. To me, I felt he didnt put much effort into the gift, showing that which is not sincere at all. Because I mentioned that I like Mnm Chocolates,so he gave it to me on our anniversary which is very disappointing. I think among all, this is the worst gift I've ever received from him. A small packet of chocolates cost about only a few dollars and can be brought easily. It for a boring gift for me. Thinking of this chocolate packet gift reminds me of quarreling with my elder sister when I was a small child back then. My sister would keep all the chocolates to herself and not sharing with me which frustrates me alot. In all, this gift was a total disappointment from my boyfriend.Any boy out there dont buy this as a gift for your girl."

Another Soy Candle

Can you tell we LOVE soy candles? Hint hint... What's better than getting one soy candle for Valetine's Day? Getting two.

"My worst romantic gift that I ever received was a stuffed cow holding babies. I was going into the hositpal to have my oldest son, my husband was with me at the time. After arriving at the hositpal, they started inducing me into labor. After about an hour I was in severe pain and couldnt stand it anymore. I wanted something to drink and couldn't have anything so he had stepped out of the room to get him something to drink and was gone for a long time. When he returned he had a bag in his hand. I asked him what he had when walked up beside the bed. He pulled out a little black and white cow with little babies on it. I looked at him and asked what he thought he was doing bringing me a stuffed cow when I was in the middle of labor and felt like a cow. I thought that is was sweet but a very terrible gift to be giving your wife while she was in labor having your child."

Silk Chemise

DO NOT buy your partner nasty red (or black) scratchy lace "porno" lingerie and expect her to thank you.

Buy her something like this lovely silk chemise and she WILL thank you.

"Thinking back over my relationships, there have been some really bad, supposedly romantic gifts. This is a short story about the worst "romantic" gift. We had been friends for a long itme before we decided to give it a go, and see how we'd fare as boyfriend/girlfriend material. Hmm, we should have just stayed friends. Our first big event for presents was Christmas, and boy did I get a shock! I had gone to the trouble of getting the record player he wanted, which could be hooked up to a stereo system, or a PC via USB - exactly what he'd been looking for. It took me ages to find it, and the big smile which spread across his face showed that yes, I had succeeded. Then it was my turn. With great anticipation, I accepted the gift, and began to unwrap it. It was the size of a standard photo frame, so I didn't have a clue what it was. To my surprise, I opened the gift. He had placed a piece of paper on top of another piece of paper, had doodled on it, and framed it. My gift was a doodle in a frame. He explained that when he was little in school, they were encouraged to take the pen for a walk on some paper, and see what they could come up with. I was so disappointed with my gift. A few scribbles on the paper, but what could I say, except to feign enthusiasm, spread a smile equally as wide across my face, and get on with the celebrations of the holidays. I know he put a lot of thought into it, but it just wasn’t romantic. Not long after, we decided that we were better as friends, and to this day we still are."

White Silk Nightgown and Robe Set

Or buy her the chemise, and a nightgown and robe. She'll feel sexy and classy, and you won't be in trouble for buying her scratchy lace underwear.

"One short-lived boyfriend knew how to sound romantic, but didn’t know me well enough to realize that he had to do more than throw me a line to cover up a really tacky gift. What he SAID was that he wanted me to wake up each day knowing I was the sun and the moon and the stars to him. What he gave me was a foot-tall, garish plastic, celestial-themed, talking alarm clock. Its point of pride was that when you turned off the alarm, it told you the day/month/year, and gave you a cheesy horoscope. The “best” part? The thing was programmed for a specific calendar year – three years prior! I wasn’t convinced that he thought the universe of me. I was convinced that he either had horrible taste or thought that I did, that he was either a fluff-head or thought I was, and that he either had no attention to detail or assumed I would not. I think back on this memorable gift with a nostalgic desire to smack him on the head and turn him off. I expect whoever he had originally gotten that travesty of interior decorating for, three years before, had felt the same way."

Cashmere Robe Set

Nothing feels as cosy and luxurious as good cashmere. She'll feel loved and cared for when she envelopes herself in this loveliness.

"I love to cook, and anyone that knows me, knows that cooking is the main way I destress. I usually like to make cookies, decorate them, and bring them to work. Watching everyone enjoying my cookies always warms my heart. Last year I met a great guy, we had been dating and the one month anniversary came around. He brought me out to a very romantic restaurant, wined and dined me. When he pulled out a gift, needless to say, I was shocked. It felt heavy. When I opened the box, there was the ugliest roasting pan I had ever seen! I was shocked and didn't know what to say, he said that he spoke to my friend and she told him that I liked to cook. He defonately made the effort to get me something I would "like". The gift was more funny than romantic. We broke up soon after, I kept the pot, and the very unromantic memory of receiving a roasting pot in the most romantic restaurant in Mississippi."
