The Turtles Happy Together is the group's biggest hit and ousted The Beatles from the top of the charts in 1967

The song was written by Garry Bonner and Alan Gordon, and had been rejected by several groups before The Turtles recorded it.

The Turtles resisted record company pressure to become more like the manufactured "Monkees", and two original members Howard Kaylan and Mark Volman, were still performing as The Turtles well into the 1980s.
