The Best is Yet to Come

At 42 my only regret is that I was ever afraid to grow old. As a kid, I guess I always assumed maturing meant losing my personality and charm and eventually succumbing to societal pressures to get married and have children. I’m still single and independent and proud of it. As far as I know, I’ll live to be 100.

I only hope that I never lose the one thing that’s stayed with me and helped through all the hard times in my life-my sense of humor. My favorite role models right now are Betty White and Meryl Streep. Both women are older me. They’re entertaining and as beautiful as ever and know how to laugh about their lives. These women remind me that the best years of my life are still yet to come and that romance comes with the same amount of difficulties at every age.

My hope is that I’ll have the strength and confidence that they have now when I’m their age.
