Social Networking Sites Can Work

I met my boyfriend online through a social networking website. At the time, he lived over 700 miles away. He had requested to be my friend, and we slowly started chatting online. One night, I was feeling very depressed, and he asked to chat with me on an instant message service. We chatted for a bit and ended up exchanging phone numbers.

I never had a better conversation.

Everything about him, from his voice to his sense of humor, appealed to me. Through a period of about six months, we talked on the phone daily. It turned out that he was interested in my state’s football team, so he decided to make a trip to see a game and to see me. He stayed for about five days, and we hit it off as if we’d known each other for years.

After several more visits back and forth, I decided to move to where he lived. Making the 700 mile move was scary, challenging, and stress-filled. But it was worth it. I’ve been with him for over three years now, and I couldn’t be happier. Online dating can work out perfectly, if the people involved keep open minds.
