Although Senior People Meet is aimed at a primarly American audience, anyone can join, and we found profiles for most nationalities.

Senior People Meet is part of the PeopleMedia group of companies, which is a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB).

We did a fairly narrow search of member profiles (males aged 45-50) and returned thousands of results.

This is always a good indication that a site has lots of members of all ages.

Money Matters

Paid membership: Prices in US dollars.

1 month: $9.95 per month for 6 months (which saves you 33%).

This is billed in one payment of $59.70

1 month: $14.95 - billed on a monthly basis.

A one-time processing fee of $3.95 is charged when you register as a paid member.

You can also choose to pay a one-off fee of $4.95 when you upgrade to a premium membership. This gives you the option to have your greeting/message and/or profile highlighted.

With a Paid membership to SeniorPeople Meet you can do all of the above, and:

We like:

Senior People Meet is user-friendly (aside from the initial sign-up, see below), with a simple to navigate site. This is one of the most popular (nearly a million members) senior dating services, so you shouldn't have trouble finding someone in the age range you're seeking.

We like that you have the option to block certain people from seeing your profile and getting in touch with you. And you can pre-select what age range/gender you want to be able to view your profile.

Their Help files are easy to find and the costs involved in joining as a paid member are clear.

There’s a link to their dating safety tips in their welcome email after you sign up, as well as hints on how best to upload your picture (and how to get it to them if you don’t have access to a digital camera).

We don’t like:

This site has been a target for scammers in the past.

This is one of the downsides of online dating, and not unique to this particular site.

Use your common sense and make it clear what you're looking for in your profile. Don't communicate off the site until you're sure you know who you're dealing with. Scammers will often urge you to communicate off-site using Yahoo Messenger or similar very soon after making contact. Don't do it. Stay on-site and anonymous.

Always cease contact with someone who asks you for money.

Regardless of which dating site you choose, always keep your wits about you and be aware of the dangers of online dating, as well as the fun side!

On login/sign-up to SeniorPeopleMeet you're forced to enter a zipcode.

Which is a bit awkward if you don't actually live in the United States!

We signed up (using a random zipcode), and then amended our country/post code details from our Account page. But this seems an unnecessarily backward way of going about things.

Why not put a drop-down list of countries to choose from on the sign-up page?
