No One Listens to Me

I am a 45 year old woman living with my extended family.
My son and my daughter-in-law are both doctors and they spend the majority of their time at the hospital. My husband passed away four years back and since then I have been trying to be more involved with my grandchildren.
I am ok with the loud music and action movies the modern kids like but I have serious issues with the unguided internet access that my grandchildren get.
Actually once I caught my thirteen year old grandson watching objectionable material and questioned him on that. He retorted saying this is the modern trend you won't understand.
I tried talking to my son about the problem and he said kids need internet for doing their homework as well, we can't monitor everything.
I don't know if he is being an irresponsible father or I am being an over-responsible grandmother, but this notion of independence for the youth bugs me a lot.
