New York Date of Mind

When I was seventeen I met a girl from rural Pennsylvania. Being a New Jersey native, I spent a lot of time during my teens as a bridge-and-tunnel rat and knew New York City well enough to impress anyone who came from outside the immediate Metropolitan area.

I figured since she was coming to stay for the weekend, that I would take her out for a day and evening in the museums and then show her the lower east side of Manhattan. We walked around the city, shamelessly people watching until we got hungry and then I took her to Katz's Deli for a real taste of the city. She had never been to New York before and it really brought out the best in both of us.

We talked all day as the city just kind of revolved around us at its frantic pace. We took the bus home out of the Port Authority and I will never forget her falling asleep on my shoulder after watching the full moon sit over the skyline (which was complete at the time).
