Making Internet Dating Fun

I'm a woman of 55 and I actually enjoy Internet dating. I think it gives a woman a whole range of men to meet and date that she'd never have met otherwise. Of course, I go into it with the attitude that I'm just going to meet someone interesting and have a nice time no matter what. I always make a point to learn something on a date, and I always do.

I haven't found Mr. Right yet, but as I tell people, I always find wonderful men who are what they say in their profiles. That's because I read carefully between the lines. First of all, I'm pretty specific as I scan the profiles. (I tend not to make mine viewable. I do counseling and don't want everyone to know I'm "out there." I make the first contact, and my emails are often so fun and full of info that they do contact me back and that's when I send a photo. After that, it's up to the man.)

I know I enjoy people who have careers they love that benefit humanity in any way at all.
I also know I want someone with liberal politics and a "spiritual" (not religious) orientation. Then I look for how they write about themselves. There has to be a certain amount of ability to articulate, but too much smoothness and I know to be wary.

This system has worked so well for me that I've often met men who had mutual friends or group activities in common with me and we've dated for a while. I think internet dating sites are great as long as you use them to open up the field of men to meet and have fun with. Of course it helps that I look younger than my years and am pretty confident about myself and how I look. But I think if a woman likes herself, dresses well, and doesn't try to be who she isn't, there are plenty of men out there 50 years old and older who are seeking dates and even relationships with women around their own age.
