Love Will Find You in Odd Places

by Mutia

Dealing with heartbreak is always difficult. Six months after I broke up with my ex I was yet to date anyone. I had emotional scars and it felt like it would never heal.

My friends had tried all kinds of things to hook me up but I just was not interested in the type of men they were introducing to me. I am a conservative girl when it comes to love and romance. I cannot bring myself to date all these boys who have their pants down their waist. Not that I have anything against them personally. So I resigned to fate and crawled into my shell.

My friend Daisy came to my house one day and told me there was someone she would want me to meet. I looked at her and shook my head as if to say not again. I believed it would be the same type of men. The ones who were always after what you have between your legs. She told me he saw my old picture in her room and would love to see the face. It would be a blind date. I did not believe in them because I believe a man should go into the world and search for his princess. I am conservative. Against my better judgement I gave in to Daisy's pressure.

He called me up that night and introduced himself as Danilo. I must confess he had quite a nice voice and I went to bed dreaming about how he would look. We met two days later at the bus station where he picked me up and to my surprise he stepped in front of me and helped me with the door. My heart skipped a bit. My ex had never done anything like this for me. Then he drove to a park and we walked round the park where he told me that he stumbled upon my pictures in Daisy's house and wanted to see the Angel who owned the face.

I knew I was blushing at that point. He held my hands and we sat at the waterfront and talked. After some hours he asked if I was hungry and when I said yes. He took me to a restaurant and ordered his meal with lots of veggies. He told me he decided some years ago to eat healthy and I told myself if I had a twin, he would have to be Danilo because am particular about what I eat.

Just when I thought it couldn't get better he asked if I wanted to catch a movie. I said yes. We went to the cinema to watch a vampire movie. Yes am conservative but I love the Twilight series. He dropped me at home around 9pm and looked me in the eye and said "you are the most interesting woman I ever met. Thanks for tonight", then he hugged me with a peck on my cheeks, he backed off and smiled. I prayed that he would kiss me on the lips, just a little would have made it a date from heaven but he told me to take care of myself for him and went to his car.

Even without the kiss that date was perfect.

Today Danilo and I and engaged, he later told me that out of respect he does not kiss a woman on the first date and I learnt a valuable lesson.

Love will find you even in odd places.
