Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World

Classic Love Songs | Top Love Songs

Louis Armstrong What a Wonderful World - is a classic feel-good love song. It's an ode to love and hope, and also a song of praise for the beauty of our world.

"Satchmo" was an influential jazz trumpeter and singer, whose career spanned fifty years.

This song was recorded in 1968, and was written by Bob Thiele and George David Weiss (who died in 2010). "What a Wonderful World" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, and it's certainly an instantly recognisable standard.

Funnily, it wasn't a hit in the US, as it wasn't properly promoted by the music company. Instead, it became a big hit in the UK. The song wasn't a hit in the United States until after Armstrong's death in 1971.

"This is by far one of the best songs in history. Every time I listen to it, it really touches my heart. I also like watching the video of Armstrong singing it on the internet.

You can really see that he poured out his heart and soul into the song. It kind of reminds me of all the times my college friends and I hung out. I love the line where it says “I see friends shaking hands, saying how do you do when they’re really saying, I love you.“

There was this one time that we just spent the entire night lying in the grass in the middle of the field. We didn’t really talk much. We just looked at the stars, but I swear at that moment we were all saying in our hearts silently how much we love each other and how much we appreciate each other’s company. I swear I could almost hear the heart beats of my friends. It’s been more than a year since I last saw any of them. We try to keep in contact, but I still miss them a lot. So I listen to this song and remember the times I spent with them, then I remember that it is a wonderful world."
