I am 55, a writer, editor
...and an internet marketer. I don't look as good as Gregory Peck or William Holden but I ain't all that bad. I was born to Indian parents but somehow my soul had always belonged to the United States; I thought like an American.
For long I wanted to marry an American woman who was also in the writing business either as a writer herself or at least as a copy editor or English teacher. Due to one reason or the other I could not go over to the United States. Meanwhile the pressure from my family to get married to an Indian had reached its peak. I didn't know of anyone in the writing business in India.
Just for a lark, I registered on a site called Bharatmatrimony.com. Boy, am I glad I did! Within just a few days, I started receiving invitations to connect with some of the most gorgeous looking women. Imagine my surprise, a woman who is as old as my daughter wanted to date me. Many of them were freelance journalists, one woman had even finished a novel... all because I was in the writing business. To tell you the truth I was a bit flustered with all this adulation.
It became a problem with mom because she wanted me to select at least one of them. I have decided to wait and think because I ain't going to get my myself involved with any Indian female even though she may look great and write and edit well.
