One chooses from pre-selected responses.

I am attractive for my age but never got beyond level 1 (4 levels). I Am 99.9% positive they leave Inactive members in the system so it appears they have lots of choices & do not list how long the profiles have been inactive. I consider inactive being more than a week.Got to level 1 once & never had response from any others in 3 months.

Addendum: Just wrote a review but didn't emphasize that it was about e-harmony. I would consider them one of the least desirable for any seniors in their 70s.
