Fools in Love - Inara George

by Sunita
(umbai, Maharashtra, India)

My favorite love song is called "Fools In Love" by Inara George (who is one-half of the duo of The Bird and The Bee).

The song is slow and a bit melancholy. The speaker gives a list of how people that love each other are fools, because it is very unlikely that they will be able to stick together, happily, forever. I love this song because it reminds me of the time I was in love with a person who didn't love me back.

The ending line of the song always struck a chord with me - "I say fools in love are zeros, I should know because this fool's in love again".

The general tone is one of helpless inevitability. The speaker knows it's foolish to love someone, but simply can't help it. It reminds me of how I berated myself, over and over, to ignore the person because he was just causing me heartache and grief, but at the same time I just couldn't.

I just couldn't.
