Favourite Country Love Song - George Strait - I Cross My Heart

My absolute favourite country love song has to be “I Cross My Heart” by George Strait.

The heartfelt lyrics and the melodious guitar aren't the only reasons I appreciate this song. My cousin Kelly was married in 1996, when I was just five, and I was present at the wedding as a flower girl.

At the reception, this song came on as the first song for Kelly and her new husband to dance to as a married couple. At the time I didn't understand the lyrics, but I remembered some of the words and a few years later I rediscovered the song.

Sadly my cousin's marriage didn't last and she was divorced by the time my interest in the song was revived, and I remember thinking that if she and her husband had actually felt the way that the song described about each other then maybe their relationship would have lasted.

I understand now that life isn't that simple, but the song remains a sentimental favorite of mine.
