Falling - LeBlanc and Carr

by Randolph
(Croydon, UK)

My all-time favorite love song is 'Falling' which was recorded in the 1970's by a duo called LeBlanc and Carr. It is an extremely beautiful song even without the words. The melody and the music are so sweet. When the words are added, it becomes a classic love song that speaks to the endearing memories of being with that special one, and the deep longing to be with that person again.

It's a realization that you are indeed falling in love. It is very emotional, but very real. One of the reasons I relate so well to the song is that it speaks of how ordinary things become extraordinary simply because you are with the one you love. In one of the verses, the writer says, "I think about winter when I was with her, and the snow was falling down."

Obviously something as simple as falling snow reminds him of being with the one he loves.

For me, the line about falling snow and the memories it brings back reminds me of a weekend ski trip I took with a friend and his sister. I was already starting to feel something special toward this girl.

But that weekend deepened my feelings toward her. We had a great time just playing around in the snow and having snowball fights. I was falling in love at the time and didn't know it. Although things did not work out for us due to other circumstances, I can't help but relive those memories of that weekend every time I see it snow.

The song also touches an emotional chord because it mentions the fear that the writer has that somehow his love may slip away from him. She obviously has gone away momentarily and his heart is aching for her return.

He remembers a time when they strolled along the beach hand in hand, and he says, "We walked together hoping forever, Please don't let go of my hand." 'Falling' reminds me of all the emotions of falling in love. There is apprehension, excitement, and maybe a little fear mixed in. But at the core of it all is the greatest feeling of all - the joy of being with the one you love.
