eHarmony

eHarmony.com is one of the giants of internet dating services.

They think of themselves as a relationship service, rather than a traditional dating site and claim that 90 members get married every day.

Marriage is the ultimate aim of this site for its members.

This is one of the most popular online dating sites because it works to attract people who are looking for serious relationships.

eHarmony The company founder, Dr Neil Clark Warren, is an evangelical Christian, so the site's emphasis is on heterosexual singles (of all ethnicities and religions) who want long-term relationships.

You fill out a comprehensive personality test and questionnaire about your lifestyle, values, character, intellect, sense of humour and other variables. You're then sent the profiles of compatible matches.

Yes.

With a free membership you can:

  • Take the comprehensive tests (Compatibility Matching System ®) and receive your personality profile
  • Post your profile with a photo
  • View matches that have been selected especially for you. We had 7 matches when we logged in after doing our questionnaire. You can read your match profiles, but can't communicate with them or see their photos until you upgrade to paid membership
  • Take advantage of site features like Advice, Dating Tips, and Success stories.

Paid membership:

Money Matters

Prices are in Canadian dollars – US should be about the same

1 month: $59.95 – no guaranteed minimum number of matches

3 month: $36.95 (total $110.85) - a guaranteed minimum of 3 matches

6 month: $28.95 ($173.70) a guaranteed minimum of 6 matches

12 month: $20.95 a month ($251.40) - you’re guaranteed at least 12 matches during the 12 month period, otherwise you get your money back (or a free extension on your membership).

They recommend you sign up for the year, as they advise it can take this long to find your perfect match.

Well, they would, wouldn’t they :)

But it’s also the most economical option, on a month-by-month basis.

Payment options: All credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Amex), Paypal and Visa or Mastercard debit cards.

Open to: Worldwide – but they don’t accept members who are gay or married (ie. separated, but not divorced).

With a paid membership you can:

We like: eHarmony com is a seriously impressive site, with lots of free articles and features to keep you amused: dating tips, success stories, videos, relationship advice, and safety hints.

There's a lot to look at before you even take their questionnaire. They also have profiles of couples from their TV ads who met and married through eHarmony online dating. So they're not actors after all.

The personality, relationship and lifestyle questionnaire takes about 30 minutes, give or take. And it's very comprehensive. Once you fill that in you can go directly to your profile page. This reviewer already had 7 matches to look at. Cool.

You can fill in more personal details, likes and dislikes, etc on your profile.

We don't like:

Nothing so far. This is one of the top online dating sites. Our eHarmony review is positive becauce the service they offer is pretty impressive. Some people might not like the fact that you can't search through other members' profiles, and that eHarmony does the choosing for you. If that's the case, then a more traditional online dating site may suit you better.
