Double Standards

I am a single woman, age 45. I feel so old at times when I am out on a date someplace and see all of the younger couples. I think the pressure to look perfect is still on, no matter what my age will be. Dates are harder to come by these days as I have growing children and they need me a lot.

Some men haven't liked the idea of an ex-husband whom I never talk to, and my children thrown into the mix. There was one man I was dating for 6 months in which I really started becoming attached to. I knew about his last 4 wives and I was kind of hoping to become the 5th. I was married a long time ago at the young age of 21, and was divorced within 9 months.

I mentioned I had been married once before and that was it, he left. I couldn't understand how it was so different to him, and why he couldn't handle it.

Now when I go on dates I tell most men on the first or second date that I have been married before and have kids still living at home. I don't want to have anymore problems in that nature.

A lot of times I am told that I appear younger than my actual age, I am constantly mistaken for being in my 30's still. Sometimes this can become quite embarrassing, because younger men hit on me and I am afraid to tell them how old I am.
