Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton - Rockin' Years

My all-time favorite country love song is definitely "Rockin' Years," the duet between Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton.

What I love so much about that song is that it reminds me how the simplest things are what's really important in a relationship.

I remember listening to it for the first time after I met the man who is now my husband. Even though I was sitting in the car by myself, stuck in rush hour traffic, I couldn't help but cry as I thought about how I wanted the new man in my life to be there with me when we sat in "rockin chairs, rockin' babies..."

A couple of years later, at our wedding, I asked my husband if he would sing a duet of this song with me at our reception.

He gamely practiced it with me and figured out a simple guitar arrangement to play for our accompaniment. During the reception, I felt confident about our performance... until I became so moved by the song that I started crying!

We finished the song anyway, and our friends and family clapped for us and teared up with me.

We've been together 8 years, and are still going strong!
