"My best date ever happened about 17 years ago. My boyfriend, who is now my husband, surprised me with a weekend getaway to New Orleans.
We live in Alabama and he picked me up for what I thought was a dinner date. When he arrived, he told me to pack a bag, because he had arranged for us to fly out that night to New Orleans. I was so excited and hurried to pack. We caught a flight about 2 hours later and arrived in New Orleans at about 9 pm on a Friday. We checked into a wonderful "bed and breakfast" in the Garden District and spent two lovely day wandering around the French Quarter. My dinner date ended up being at the famous "Brennan's" restaurant, which is one of my favorite places in the world to dine. It certainly beat the pizza I thought we would be getting on our Friday night date! Instead of going to the movies or wandering around the bookstore, we took in the sights of Jackson Square and the beautiful St Louis Cathedral. Our fabulous date ended at Cafe Du Monde, eating beignets and sipping chicory coffee at midnight. My husband and I have gone on a lot of dates since that time, but that one remains my favorite." "It started out as a blind date found on the internet. Both 'blind date' and 'internet' are the signs for the disaster I did not see coming. We had agreed to meet at 8PM in a local jazz bar.
It became 8, and there was no sign of her whatsoever, not even a text message. And then, finally after half an hour and a glass of red wine she decided to show up. She didn't want to stay in this, according to her, dank and dark hole (it was my favorite place) and we decided to leave for a restaurant. She knew one.
Apparently she only knew the name, because we walked around for an hour. This was the worst restaurant ever. TL light and radio music. The food was bad too.
She drank 3 glasses of red wine and started commenting on my shoes of all things - for 15 minutes. She was really drunk and as so, not very pleasant. After a gruesome hour and a half, I managed to get away. Unfortunately, our cars were parked at the same spot, so I had to walk with her to it - not a happy ending!"
