Dating at 60 is Different
by Evelyn
My daughter lives separately in another state, and my husband whom I had divorced because of drinking issues, lately got remarried. I took my loneliness close to heart and thought life was over as I was not young anymore- a common symptom of “age-ism”. Then my daughter came over to visit me and totally changed my life! She grasped at once the emotional situation I was dragged into and took me to the best cosmetic surgeon in the city. So I had some skin lifted, also got some Botox injections to look my best, and the results were quite satisfying. I started looking almost 10 years younger. Afterwards I didn’t have time to get bored as my neighbor, a handsome 63 year-old single named John started to display some curiosity towards me. We started going out soon and fell in love like teenagers. I can recall all the details of our first date – he invited me to go for a walk at the shore of the nearby lake, then we sat on a boat and spent a wonderful time talking and enjoying beauty. I realized how different it was from my dating experiences of early twenties as now we both were seeking serenity, quietude, started appreciating all the beautiful moments life was offering. I felt quite good realizing that we both were mature, had seen all the surprises life had delivered at our feet and had learnt to deal with problems wisely. So, life is still going on regardless of the age, and you should always keep in mind – your age is exactly how much you feel it is!
