Cheapskate

by Danica
(Bangor, ME)

I met this guy at a club one night and we hit it off. By the end of the night he asked for my number and said he wanted to take me out to dinner. So he calls me and we set up a date. Of course, an hour before the date he calls and says he can’t stay long so maybe we should just go somewhere else and grab a drink. I said ok and met him at a bar. After looking at him in the light I noticed he looked older than I thought. He said he was 45… I was 24. I tried not to make a face when he said that, and kept the date going.

I then said that I hadn’t dated a lot over the past two years and he said “Well I’ve been dating enough for the both of us” with a laugh and a wink. He slightly crept me out and I just wanted to get out of there. When the bill came he looked at me and said “Your drink was $5. Do you have cash or a card?” Now call me crazy but when a man calls you and offers to take you out, he pays. I got over it and paid my $5 and as I’m leaving he says “So when can we do this again?” Needless to say I haven’t talked to him since.
