Canadian Holiday Romance

Back when I was in my early 20s I took a vacation to Canada to hang out with a Canadian guy I knew from our drinking days in London. He was studying in London and me & my friends were always partying getting drunk & he managed to join our group. When he returned to Canada I said I would come over in summer & hang out with him for 3 weeks. I got the flight and met him & the plan was happening for real.

Basically he turned out to be a bit of a pain & the friendship turned sour. I had to escape his company so I ended up finding a pretty cool student bar in town & made a couple of friends in the bar.

The bar man later set me up on a date with with a girl who used to go to the bar & I just went along with it. It turned out to be one of the greatest nights ever.

I met the girl and her friend more or less like a blind date in the bar the next day & I got lucky in more ways than one. She was good looking, had her own pad 10 minutes away, we loved the same music & same things & she was 10 years older than me. It was the quintessential holiday romance but was without doubt the best date I'd ever had.

I made the most of it & felt like I was playing a part in some 80s teen movie. It only lasted a week but was just about perfect.
