Beauty and the Geek

Dear Michelle H.

Do you remember me? I am sure if you think hard enough you will recall we went to school together. In fact, we spent a summer together at camp. Of course you were popular and all the boys liked you while I was considered a "geek".

But you were really kind to me. One day a girl named Sherry brought candy and handed it out to all of us. But she refused to give me some. As I was walking away you stopped me and gave me yours. That was the first time I felt that not only were you beautiful but you were nice too.

Then a few years later at the high school dance it was the girl's turn to ask the boys to dance. And you had been dancing with all the boys while I sat at the back of the gymnasium watching. But you came up to me and asked me to dance. I was in shock and couldn't move. I should have said yes. But instead I shied away and you had to move on and ask someone else.

I think we were meant to be but I didn't have the guts. You went off to university and I to college. We never met again. We lost touch and till this day I still wonder if I had a chance at being with you. I have looked all over for you. I asked friends of yours and schoolmates.

I have tried to find you online on social media sites. But you disappeared. I can't find your name anywhere. I suppose you got married and changed your last name so I may never see you again. But know that I always had feelings for you and maybe someday we will meet again.
